Singing the "Blues"
What is your favorite color? If you answered “blue,” consider yourself part of the large majority of people, regardless of country, who have answered that question the same way. Over the past century, composers and lyricists have recognized this fact by incorporating the word “blue” in a vast array of song titles and used it as a recurring theme in the lyrics.
During this program we will have a chance to relive a variety of memorable numbers such as Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies,” Neil Diamond’s “Song Sung Blue,” and Rodgers and Hart’s “Blue Moon,” and experience some wonderful vocal renditions by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bobby Vinton.
