Memorable Female-Inspired Early Rock Songs

Songs written about or inspired by a woman in the composer’s life have been a major part of the world of music going back to the classical era.  During the first two decades of Rock and Roll songwriters such as Neil Diamond (“Sweet Caroline”), Roy Orbison (“Oh, Pretty Woman”), Buddy Holly (“Peggy Sue”), and Crosby, Stills and Nash (“Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”) continued this tradition and, in so doing, were responsible for some of the most famous songs of the era,
 
During this presentation we will explore the backstories behind the ladies referenced in the song titles and how and why they inspired so many wonderful numbers that continue to live on to this day.
