Signature Songs of Outstanding Vocalists
A “signature” song has been defined as the one song that a popular and well-established recording artist or band has been most closely identified with or was best known for. A signature song may be a song that spearheads an artist's initial mainstream breakthrough, a song that revitalizes an artist's career, or a song that simply represents a high point among his or her years of recordings.
During this program we will have an opportunity to watch video recordings of many such numbers by a variety of vocalists and band leaders including Frank Sinatra (“My Way”), Patti Page (“Tennessee Waltz”), Tony Bennett (“I Left My Heart in San Francisco”), Glenn Miller (“Moonlight Serenade), and Andy Williams (“Moon River”).
