The Incomparable Mario Lanza
Part of the "Great Voices" Series

From 1942 until his untimely passing in 1959 at the age of 38, the outstanding tenor voice of Mario Lanza thrilled audiences around the world. Whether performing famous operatic arias such as "Nessun Dorma" and "Celeste Aida" or popular ballads such as "Be My Love" and "With a Song in My Heart," the power and lyricism of his vocals set a standard few others have ever reached.
Through a variety of video and audio clips, this program will allow participants to relive many of Lanza’s greatest performances from films such as "Serenade" and "That Midnight Kiss" as well as a number of his radio and television appearances. We will also have an opportunity to view excerpts from "American Caruso," an extraordinary documentary on his personal life and career hosted by Placido Domingo.
